'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Relatives of Unaccounted For Teenagers Await Answers After Ski Resort Fire
The loved ones of teens lost after a tragic fire at a venue in a Swiss ski resort are enduring an painful wait for official news and pleading for clues about their children publicly.
The fire devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of January 1st. Verified footage depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are raised in celebration.
Emergency services have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the victims of the fire, which killed four dozen individuals and hurt another 119. Officials said on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process still underway to identify the final individuals.
In the interim, families and friends have been taking to the internet to appeal for clues about their friends who were in attendance that night.
Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For
The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his family.
The who lives of Lutry near Lausanne, told a publication that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in the capital, but was unsuccessful.
"It feels like a terrible dream, a horror. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in critical condition. It's horrific," she told the paper.

The Italian foreign ministry has confirmed that a number of of its citizens remain missing.
One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, originally from Genoa but now residing in the UAE.
The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "young athlete who embodied dedication and true sportsmanship."
His father, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An official spokesperson has stated that a official announcement of his death is not yet.
Other Missing Individuals
Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and ended up at the bar.
"Someone with him told me they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.
One of his educators said, "I've always been struck by his good nature and smile, alongside great responsibility. Often ask if get me a coffee."
Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on that night, according to sources.
Her sibling has published an appeal online, saying the relatives has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.
Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the situation.
