Spurs Manager Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "they can't be real Spurs supporters" by boss Thomas Frank.

Tottenham conceded two goals in the opening six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th Premier League at home loss of 2025.

But the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when the keeper lost the ball far beyond his area.

He came out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.

But, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italy international spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to Vicario again, some Spurs supporters booed him.

The team were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

One of those booing episodes really angered the manager.

"It came to my attention some of our fans apparently jeered the situation and booed after, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager commented about the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering following the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are with each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second period showing.

Former top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the second goal was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I know the role Vicario is performing. He is a excellent team player, he's a true figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Game

Italy national team Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated following the game that he had to take the feedback.

"That goal was a mistake of my own, I accept responsibility for that," he said.

"The intent was to kick the ball far and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."

He stated being booed "is part of football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be affected by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It is on the team to remain increasingly composed, to concentrate on ourselves. We are lacking in calmness and poise to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor loss and it's tough to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an simple goal for Wilson to score.

In fact it was the next longest-range top division score of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally also came on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty net to aim for.

Ten seconds passed between Vicario coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five moments after the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest sparked a bit.

"Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little extra opportunity. After that it was all about trying to make the correct contact and get it on target. I had a good feeling, as soon as it left my boot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Poor Run, All Appears to Go Against You'

Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake led headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Spurs to continue their home woes.

The match was their 10th at home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a shared team statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side the Bees and champions the Reds to come prior to the close of the season.

Only one of those victories have come since Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"When you're down 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," said the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have suffered an additional game. Each fixture has a single narrative, this game we were defeated in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in four straight home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

And they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their lowest averages on record in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).

Former Fulham midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's taken a prestigious role at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.

"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
