Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
