Followers Call for Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a man who leaped a barrier and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared video shows the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a event pathway flanked by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the event by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being arrested", though official papers showed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him disrupting other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said one more response on Instagram.
Several fans also faulted guards at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while some requested online networks to block Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage shared widely, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Many of attendees had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-film version of the acclaimed Broadway and West End show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two very different characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored a dozen Academy Award nods, earning several for outstanding attire and set decoration.
